What Did Phil Heath Think About Overtraining?
Sometimes people train to the point where they actually start getting weaker. But how can this be true? The answer is Overtraining.
As the dictionary states, “Overtraining is a common problem in weight training, but it can also be experienced by runners and other athletes. It occurs when the volume and intensity of the exercise exceeds an individual’s recovery capacity. They cease making progress, and can even begin to lose strength and fitness.”
In a recent Q&A video, 7-times Mr. Olympia champion Phil Heath addresses a question from a fan about Overtraining. Phil responds:
“Overtraining, I don’t wanna say is BS, but I think if you are not eating enough you can’t recover fast enough and you training the same body part you are overtraining.”
Phil explains that your body needs to rest for certain period of time to heel and in the healing process, you build the muscles. Watch below for the full video:
