Great Britain is definitely one of the leading countries in powerlifting, since it is represented by a number of World Class athletes. One of these is Inderraj Singh, who is an amazing athlete overall, but mostly recognized for his deadlift prowess. So, to the delight of many powerlifting fans, Inderraj put on a show at the 2023 BP Eleiko British Open Classic Championships, which took place on March 16th, in Nottingham. In the end, Inderray broke the U120KG British Record and locked out British Powerlifting’s (BP) Heaviest Raw Deadlift of 385.5 kilograms (849.9 pounds).
Inderraj Singh was prepared to make history from the start of the competition. After scoring new Competition PRs in both the Squat and Bench Press event, the time came for him to put on a show with his deadlifts.
Inderraj Singh opened up with an easy 340-kilogram (749.6-pound) deadlift, after which he made a massive jump to 372.5 kilograms (821.2 pounds) for his second attempt. Finally, Inderraj decided to load up 385.5 kilograms (849.9 pounds), setting the heaviest deadlift of BP federation, including all weight classes.
The previous heaviest raw deadlift of BP federation stood at 385 kilograms (848.8 pounds), which Luke Richardson set at the 2018 EPF European Classic Powerlifting Championships. However, Inderraj Singh’s bodyweight was 119.6 kilograms (263.7 pounds), which is 27.6 kilograms (60.8 pounds) lighter than Luke’s bodyweight of 147.2 kilograms (324.5 pounds).
“The pull for a spot in Malta. You know I had to upload this one by itself! That world record is gunna fall this year.”
